Bodog Sports Prop - Where will QB Trent Green play in 2007?
As players get older in the National Football League, they are often replaced with younger and cheaper alternatives. Anybody who follows the game of football will see this play out again and again across the league. At the moment, it’s happening to Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback, Trent Green. In late February of this year, the Chiefs re-signed backup QB Damon Huard to a 3-year, $7.5 million dollar contract. Green was asked to take a pay cut, but the veteran refused to do so. Afterwards, he was given permission by the team to seen a trade.
Despite being among a handful of quarterbacks to throw for over 4,000 years in 3 or more seasons, Green’s severe concussion suffered during the first game of the 2006 season had many in the organization worried. That, and his big contract.
Luckily, the Chiefs have a savior in the form of team GM Carl Peterson. Never one to show the least bit of loyalty to his players (as evidenced by his treatment of Green, Tony Gonzalez, and Priest Holmes), Peterson was all to happy to give Green his walking papers.
The question is, which team‘s roster will Trent Green be on by Week 1 of the 2007 NFL season? Well, don’t be too surprised when I tell you that Bodog is taking bets on that very question. The max bet is $100. Here are the current odds:
Kansas City Chiefs +370
Dolphins +180
Browns +250
Lions +280
Field (any other team) +200
The Dolphins offered a seventh round draft pick, but the Chiefs were looking for a second rounder. Green has stated that the Dolphins are his preference, as he has worked with both head coach Cam Cameron and QB coach Terry Shea (there are also reports that QB Daunte Culpepper‘s knee is not yet fully healed). The Chiefs and Browns have also discussed a trade, but it appears as though the Browns would seek to restructure Green’s contract before moving forward with a deal.
Personally, I believe that he will end up in Miami. What do you think?
