10 Craziest Auction Wins from Golden Palace

Golden Palace is the online casino when it comes to crazy promotional stunts. Nothing is too odd for these folks, and while such gimmickry may cause some to roll their eyes, it does accomplish the goal of getting them more publicity.

Their favorite tactic is the online auction. They literally seem willing to buy and sell anything, the stranger the better. In fact, many of these pieces can be found touring the nation in a traveling museum. So in honor of their bizarre devotion to free publicity, let’s pause for a moment and take a look at the 10 craziest auctions from Golden Palace.

THE 10 CRAZIEST AUCTIONS FROM GOLDEN PALACE

1. The Haunted Cane - A seller on eBay believed that the spirit of her dead father inhabited his walking cane. After scaring her son on several occasions, the woman decided to, what else, sell the item. What better way to put your loved one’s spirit to rest than by auctioning them off to a complete stranger? Of course, Golden Palace had to have the item, and they were willing to shell out a whopping $65,000 for the cursed cane.

2. Goth Babe Boobs - A green-haired goth babe from Miami offered to place advertising from the highest bidder across her chest, cleavage and breasts for 120 hours. Golden Palace couldn’t resist, and they won the auction for $4999.99.

3. Forehead Tattoo - “The Human Pincushion” Brent Moffatt auctioned off his forehead on eBay. The winning bidder got to permanently tattoo their company’s name on his bald dome. The auction amount in unknown, but one has to wonder if it even mattered to Moffatt, a man so covered with piercing and tattoos that he was included in the 2005 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records.

4. Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese - One of the auctions which they’re most known for, our pals at Golden Palace bought a grilled cheese sandwich on eBay for $28,000. But this was no ordinary grilled cheese sandwich. Nope, it had the image of the Virgin Mary on it. Who could resist an item like that?

5. Knoxville Name Change - Terri Ilagen, a Knoxville, Tennessee resident, decided to auction off the rights to permanently rename herself. The mother of 5 was surprised when you-know-who swooped in and won the auction for a nice chunk of change - $15,199, to be exact. From now on, she will legally be known as GoldenPalace.com. I wonder if her husband yells out the casino’s name during sex?

6. The Popemobile - When Pope Benedict XVI’s 1999 Volkswagen Golf went on sale, you can imagine who was right in the thick of the bidding. With over 8.5 million visitors to eBay’s auction page, this became the most viewed item in the site’s history. When the dust had cleared, Golden Palace had walked away with the car for the modest price of $244,590.83.

7. Captain Kirk‘s Kidney Stone - When actor William Shatner passed a kidney stone, Golden Place saw a “golden” opportunity (couldn’t pass that one up). They contacted the actor and offered him $15,000 for the stone. He turned them down, but made a counter-offer of $25,000 (which would all go to Habitat for Humanity). They jumped at the chance and became the envy of Star Trek geeks everywhere.

8. Suri Cruise‘s Poop - In the kind of bizarre move you would expect from Tom Cruise, his daughter Suri’s first solid bowel movement was cast in bronze, made into a sculpture, and then auctioned off to raise money for charity. The online casino picked up this wacko memento for $10,000.

9. Authentic Sea Monster - Supposedly found on a beach in Florida, this obviously fake sea monster with enormous fangs was bought on eBay for only $637.00. It is now part of their traveling museum of oddities. Let’s hope more of these monstrosities don’t wash up.

10. Assassin Bathtub - Ever wonder what happened to the bathtub that James Earl Ray stood in to fatally shoot Martin Luther King, Jr.? Well, wonder no more. Golden Palace picked up this morbid piece of history for $7,600. Let’s hope nobody ever puts a price tag on the gun Lee Harvey Oswald used to kill JFK. If they do, you can bet where it will end up.
