Alphonse D'Amato and Howard Lederer Interview on Cardplayer.com

Cardplayer.com is featuring a video interview of Howard Lederer and Alphonse D'Amato. The two discuss Barney Frank's new legislative initiative, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, which will help in the fight to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act passed last fall.

Alphonse D'Amato was once a Republican senator from the state of New York. Now he's the chairman of the Poker Players Alliance.

Howard Lederer is one of the most famous professional poker players in the world. He is also one of the leading members of FullTiltPoker.com, which is offering daily freerolls to help sign up new members for the Poker Players Alliance.

The PPA is set to become a major force in pro-gambling legislation in the years to come. D'Amato and Lederer will be two of the voices championing our cause.

THE PPA STRATEGY

In the interview, Lederer touches on the strategy of the PPA. He calls this a two-pronged strategy. First, the PPA hopes to help Barney Frank pass the IGREA. Second, the PPA will then take the fight to the state level, where it hopes to win gambling rights under the provisions of the IGREA.

Lederer says that he believes gambling can be legalized in up to "35 or 40 states".

I think that's where those interested gamblers who have criticized Barney Frank may be getting the wrong picture. Like the rest of us, they want to see a quick fix to the damage down to the online gambling industry by Republican lawmakers last fall.

THE SAD TRUTH

But that is optimism. Keeping the federal government from invading our homes and computers is going to have to be an ongoing, longterm battle. We have to establish and maintain our gaming rights.

First, let's get Congress to allow online gambling anywhere the local state allows it. Then let's go to the states and get gambling legalized.

That's long and painful, but it's the way things work. Once in place, the next time a bunch of whacko moralist conservatives control the Department of Justice, the states will fight on our behalf.

Anyway, check out the video on Cardplayer.com. It's worth ten minutes to see what two of our spokesmen have to say on the matter.
