The Best of DaretoGamble.com - Gambling in Asia - De La Hoya Fight - Paris Hilton in Jail

In our latest installment of "The Best of Dare To Gamble", we cover an absolutely huge range of topics.

GAMBLING NEWS

The World Series of Poker announced a new payment schedule for the 2007 WSOP. Payments will be spread more evenly among those who finish in the money. Those at the final table will win a little less, but those who survive the first several thousand cuts will make more.

Another of the big names of poker, The World Poker Tour, announced the WPT Season 6 schedule this week.

We also covered the Pokerstars Sunday Million, in one of our ongoing segments. Every week, we cover not only the Sunday Million, but all the other big Sunday online poker tournaments.

Dare To Gamble launched another new segment this week, where we offer Quick News Hits from around the gambling world. These are links to gambling news stories which you might find interesting, from cheap ways into the WSOP to studies of the economics of gambling.

LEGAL NEWS

Daretogamble remains dedicated to informing the public about the Bush administration's continuing nonsense involving gambling. We had a story about the U.S. ignoring a WTO ruling involving online gambling.

DTG also featured stories about two U.S. representatives, Shelley Berkley and Robert Wexler, who are trying to do something on behalf of online poker enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, one story covered the state of gambling in Asia, including initiatives to build new casinos in China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and Singapore.

We included a seperate story about the legalization of gambling in Papua New Guinea.

BOXING NEWS

We saw the highs and lows of professional boxing this week. The fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather was the largest grossing pay-per-view match in boxing history. I saw where DeLaHoya is likely to take in $45 million dollars for himself.

In sad news from the boxing world, Diego Corrales died in a motorcycle accident. Corrales, known for taking chances both inside and outside the ring, died when hitting a car head on while trying to pass in traffic. People will remember Diego for his Rocky like comeback victory over Jose Louis Castillo. Corrales, with both eyes nearly closed, got up from two 10th round knockdowns to score a TKO over Castillo.

Rest in Peace, Chico.

BODOG BETS

We offered an update on a Bodog bet of a few weeks ago. This was the Paris Hilton celebrity proposition bet, based on whether she would spend time in jail. Check here to see the latest on stardom's wackiest heiress.

Dare To Gamble also covered other wagering, including a similiar prop bet on whether Michael Moore would be arrested.

To complete our Bodog coverage, we included new wagers on the NFL Rookie of the Year awards.

...AND 5 GAMBLING MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE

Finally, we offered up our list of five gambling movies you should see. These are some of the finest gambling-related movies of yesteryear, ranging from the famed to the obscure. Enjoy.
