Pokerface 2007 Final Table Set at Binion's Horseshoe

The final table of Pokerface 2007 is set.

Pokerface 2007 is an event being held at Binion's Horseshoe. The eventual winner has a chance to become a professional poker player for a year. That player will be bankrolled by The River Card Dot Com to the tune of some $100,000. This will give them the ability to play in tournaments both in their home country and throughout the world.

The other eight entries at the final table will receive an all-expense paid ticket to the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event. Each package will be worth $12,000.

Here's the final table and the chips standings at present.

Georges Coustillas – Seat 1 - $117,500
Valentijn Oostburg – Seat 2 $20,100

Yucel Eminoglu – Seat 3 - $53,500

Maik Andre Dahling – Seat 4 - $116,600

Nicholas Leszkowicz – Seat 5 - $80,600
Stephane Pleuchot – Seat 6 - $19,900

Emil Ericsson – Seat 7 - $14,000

Finnbjorn Vang – Seat 8 - $113,000

Scott O'Reilly – Seat 9 - $64,800

I like the interesting dynamics this set-up creates. In most final tables, you want to hang on until one of the final three or four spots, because the difference in the money is so much greater than the 8th or 9th spot.

In Pokerface, busting out at 9th is the same as finishing 2nd. You get your trip to the WSOP Main Event, but you all get the same prize. It really is first place and everyone else in second.

Knowing that, the player's will play the game a lot differently. I imagine some will still try to hang on, hoping to outlast everyone else. But others will go for broke, knowing that the eventual winner will need to build up a sizable chip stack for the late stages of the final table. This should produce some captivating poker.

ITV1's POKERFACE

Pokerface 2007 should not be confused with the ITV1 television series, PokerFace. The ITV1 series is a quiz game based on the ability of players to bluff. After a successful first season in the UK, it's popular second season is winding to a finish.
