Prop Bets for Spider-Man 4

Spider-Man 3 opened on Friday and broke numerous box office records. The previous opening-day record was held by Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man‘s Chest at $55.8 million. Spidey 3 brought in $59 million. The opening weekend record was also held by Dead Man’s Chest at $135.6 million, but Spidey beat that as well with $148 million.

The movie opened overseas last Tuesday and has since taken in $227 million in foreign markets. In less than a week, it has grossed $117 million more than its sizeable $258 million production budget.

And how’s this for putting it in perspective? In just one day, Spider-Man 3 made more than 6 times the box office gross of the highly-touted Tarantino/Rodriguez film, Grindhouse.

The big question now is whether or not we’ll see the return of director Sam Raimi and actors Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire. All three have previously stated that Spider-Man 3 would be their last time to work on the series. Of course, Columbia Pictures will no doubt throw a ton of cash at them, so it will be interesting to see if they can resist.
