Who will Replace Rosie O'Donnell on The View?

On September 5th, 2006, Rosie O’Donnell officially replaced Meredith Vieira as a co-host on The View. Ever since that time, it seems as though Rosie has been involved in one controversy or another. Let’s take a look at a few of the highlights.

ROSIE, THE VIEW, AND CONTROVERSY

On November 20th of 2006, O’Donnell commented on an incident where Live with Regis and Kelly co-host Kelly Ripa seemed to take offense when guest Clay Aiken briefly put his hand over her mouth as if to stop her from talking. Ripa told him, “I just don’t know where that hand’s been, honey.”

O’Donnell responded, “To me, that was a homophobic remark. If that was a straight man…if that was a guy that she didn’t question his sexuality, she would have said a different thing.”

Ripa countered that it was cold and flu season, and Aiken had been shaking hands with the audience before the interview. Thankfully, both sides eventually moved on from the mini-controversy.

On December 5th, 2006, O’Donnell remarked on the buzz surrounding Danny DeVito’s appearance on the show (in which he seemed to be drunk). She mentioned that it was being talked about in countries as far away as China and added, “You know, you can imagine in China it's like, 'Ching-chong, ching-chong. Danny DeVito. Ching-chong, ching-chong-chong. Drunk. The View. Ching-chong.’” The comments were viewed as a mockery of the Chinese language, and O’Donnell later apologized.

But the biggest controversy occurred between O’Donnell and billionaire Donald Trump. When Trump gave a second chance to Miss USA Tara Conner, despite her violation of pageant guidelines concerning drinking and partying, O’Donnell said that Trump was not suitable as a moral authority for young people in America. Always eager for media coverage, Trump fired back, and the attention-starved duo waged a war of words which lasted for several agonizing weeks.

ROSIE LEAVES THE SHOW

On April 25th, 2007, O’Donnell announced that she would be leaving The View when her contract expires in June. She claimed it was because she and the network could not agree on the details of a new contract, but other sources claim that backstage tensions on the show played a large part in her departure.

Now that she’s leaving, the show is going to have to find someone else to fill her chair. So who will it be? Well, Bodog has posted a list of the most likely candidates, along with their odds. The replacement must appear on at least 10 episodes of the show to qualify, and the maximum bet is $50. Here are the options:
