Will Michael Moore Get Arrested? - Bodog Has the Odds
Oscar-winning director Michael Moore looks to be in hot water with the Bush administration (big surprise). He’s currently under investigation for taking a number of 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba to receive medical treatment. This may very well constitute a violation of the US embargo on traveling to the island. The trip was filmed as part of his upcoming movie on the healthcare industry entitled Sicko.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control informed Moore that he was under investigation. According to the letter from the office’s chief of general investigations, “This office has no record that a specific license was issued authorizing you to engage in travel-related transactions involving Cuba.”
Moore has 20 business days to provide their office with various information about his trip, including his date of travel, point of departure, reason for visiting, his itinerary, and the names and addresses of those who accompanied him. Moore has yet to respond to the letter, but Meghan O’Hara, the producer of Sicko, issued a statement on Moore’s official site which contained the following quote, “President Bush and the Bush Administration should be spending their time trying to help these heroes (the 9/11 rescue workers) get health care instead of abusing the legal process to advance a political agenda.”
Sicko is scheduled to open in the U.S. on June 29th.
