World Series of Poker Circuit Results

The World Series of Poker circuit is beginning to heat up. The WSOP circuit events started earlier this month. The latest event took place in the birthplace of poker, New Orleans. Lou Esposito of New York won the New Orleans competition.

The storyline up until the final day was all about Phil Gordon. He was the only big name professional at the final table.

It appeared on the first day that Phil wouldn't make it in the money. He was done to $500 in chips when he hit running 2's on the Turn and the River to escape elimination. By the final table, Gordon had over a million in chips.

Unfortunately, he drew a K-K against Mr. Esposito's A-A. That hand took about half of Phil's stack and put Esposito in the lead for good. Though Phil Gordon worked his chip stack up near a million a second time, his luck escaped him and he went out in 4th place.

LOU ESPOSITO

Esposito picked off his remaining two opponents to pick up over half a million dollars in prize money. He also won an all-expense paid trip to the World Series of Poker Main Event.

Esposito is a man used to success. He is an entreprenuer with a successful pizza restaurant, cell phone business and a small vending machine network. He has played in over 40 professional poker tournaments.

PHIL GORDON

Phil Gordon is a long time professional, who came to national prominence as the co-host of the Celebrity Poker Showdown for the first seven seasons on Bravo Channel. His position in the eighth season will be taken over by Phil Hellmuth Jr.
