2007 ESPY Awards
For all you sports fans out there, don’t forget about the upcoming ESPY Awards. This year’s ceremony will be broadcast July 15th from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and LeBron James.
The winners are selected entirely through fan voting, so be sure and pick your winners before the deadline. There are 38 categories in all, and they range from the obvious (Best Male Athlete) to the more eclectic (Best Bowler, Best Angler). By the way, the Indianapolis Colts lead the way with six nominations this year.
NEW AWARDS AND SPECIAL HONORS
A new award for Best Finish has been added this year. Also, the category of Best Boxer has been renamed Best Fighter to reflect the growing popularity of mixed martial arts.
In addition, there are two awards given out which are not decided on by the fans. The first is the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, presented to individuals whose contributions transcend sports. Second is the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, awarded to a person whose performance evoked emotion and provided inspiration to the sports world.
