2007 World Series of Poker - Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of the WSOP kicked off on Saturday with the remaining 97 players competing in the $5000 Mixed Game event. After some initial delays due to table space, the action finally started to pick up in the afternoon.


$5000 MIXED GAME EVENT


Early eliminations included Liz Lieu, Vanessa Rousso, Perry Friedman and Sabyl Cohen. Greg Mueller, the chip leader from Day One, started slowly but managed to become the first player to break the 300K mark in chips.

About 5 hours into the action, the field had been reduced to a point where cash awards were starting to be handed out. The first award of $11,658 was given to Cyndy Violette for her 45th place finish. Other payouts included Todd Brunson ($11,658 for 38th), Johnny Chan ($13,778 for 31st), David Grey ($15,898 for 27th) Tony Ma ($15,898 for 24th), Steve Buchanan ($22,257 for 11th) and Kenny Tran ($22,257 for 10th).

At the end of the day, the final table was set. Here’s what it looks like:

Seat 3 - Fred Berger — 942,000
Seat 4 - Roger McDow — 320,000
Seat 5 - Greg 'FBT' Mueller — 683,000
