2007 WSOP - Day 4 Recap

Event #3, also known as the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em wrapped up in the wee hours of the morning. Alex Jacobs entered the final table with close to double the amount of chips held by his competition, but would it be enough?

The field for this event started with 2,998 players, but it all came down to Cairan O’Leary against Paul Evans in heads-up play. After only two hands, O’Leary took home the win, a WSOP bracelet, and $727,012 in cash. Evans got a more-than-respectable $450,150 for 2nd place.

Event #4 ($1,500 Pot Limit Hold’em) has 40 players remaining with a first-place prize of $252,290. Remaining players include Jean-Robert Ballande, Gavin Smith and Marco Traniello. Play started today with 51 players, and the competition will continue until the final table is set.

Event #5 ($2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8 or Better) has plenty of named players left, including Bodog’s Josh Arieh, Annie Duke, Cyndy Violette, Chris Ferguson, Mel Judah, Mike Matusow, Andy Black, Huck Seed, Jennifer Harman, and Scotty Nguyen.

Event #6 ($1,500 Limit Hold’em) has a lot of unknown faces looking to make their mark in the poker world. But the old pros are also around, with names like Phil Hellmuth and TJ Cloutier looking to add to their collection of bracelets. The total prize pool for this event is somewhere near $1.3 million, with $280,715 going to the winner.
