Celebrity DUI - Who's Next? - Bodog Has Odds!

Celebrities and DUI arrests seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly. That’s why the folks over at Bodog have released their newest prop bet entitled “Which Celebrity will be the Next to be Arrested for a DUI?”.

Now, let’s take a look at the candidates and their known brushes with controversy. Keep in mind that one of these celebrities must be arrested by December 31st, 2007, for the wager to have any action, and the maximum bet is $50.

CELEBRITIES IN CRISIS

Britney Spears - Current Odds: 6/1 - The pop princess has been in the news a lot as of late, and her behavior has become increasingly erratic. After entering an off-shore drug rehab center, she left less than 24-hours later. The next night, she showed up in a California tattoo studio and shaved her own head with a pair of clippers. A few days later, she was back in rehab. She left again, but then she returned a short time later. Spears finally left rehab on March 20 after completing the program, but how long will it last?

Akon - Current Odds: 13/2 - There’s nothing ordinary about this Senegalese-American hip hop star. He has three wives, drives an orange Lamborghini, owns a diamond mine in South Africa, and has over 4,000 pairs of sneakers. He was a former drug dealer, but he claims that he never used the product. Despite his rough past, he claims to have turned his life around.

In April of this year, he lost sponsors after performing a raunchy club dance with a 14-year-old girl in a Trinidad club. In fairness, the club’s age limit was supposed to be 18 and over. Also at a recent concert, a fan hit him with a bottle while he was performing on stage. He stopped the show and had the crowd point out the offender. The punk was brought on stage, where Akon proceeded to lift him into the air and fling him back down into the crowd.

Paula Abdul - Current Odds: 8/1 - After selling over 53 million records in the late 80s and early 90s, Abdul is best known these days as the kind-hearted judge on American Idol. In 2004, Abdul pled guilty to a misdemeanor hit-and-run after running into another car on a L.A. freeway.

Questions about substance abuse popped up after Abdul was seen exhibiting “erratic behavior” on the set of American Idol. This has been attributed to fatigue and technical difficulties. Abdul maintains that she has never been drunk or used illegal drugs.

Amy Winehouse - Current Odds: 6/1 - With a name like Winehouse, you just know that she’s going to be a drinker, and the English soul singer has not disappointed. She once got drunk and heckled U2’s Bono at an awards show, assaulted a fan after a concert, and showed up drunk for The Charlotte Church Show. In fact, she has admitted to being “an ugly dickhead drunk.”

In January of this year, she stopped a gig part way through her first song after vomiting on stage. She later claimed this was due to food poisoning.

She been spotted with numerous cuts and scars on her arms, and her spokesman attributed them to her falling over on the streets of New York. She also has a number of naked women tattooed on her body but claims that she’s not a lesbian - “not before a sambuca, anyway.”

Lily Allen - Current Odds: 4/1 - A successful English singer-songwriter, Allen once claimed to have thrown a beer bottle at the head of Jet’s drummer Chris Cester and to have physically attacked The Streets at the same concert. She later mentioned that both of these incidents were examples of why she shouldn’t get drunk.

When asked how she would celebrate if her latest single went to #1, she replied “gak,” which is a slang term for cocaine. She claimed to be joking, but the press got a lot of mileage out of that one. It probably didn’t help that she once admitted to being a drug dealer when she was 15-years-old.

But here’s one redeeming feature - she recently stated that everyone who bought Paris Hilton’s debut album should be killed off.

Avril Lavigne - Current Odds: 10/1 - Having sold over 26 million albums, this Canadian pop singer has a bright career ahead of her. While she has avoided trouble with the law, she’s also admitted to having a fondness for booze. She has admitted to writing her hit single “Girlfriend” while drunk, and touted a recent photo shoot where everyone sat around and had whiskey and cupcakes.

Any ‘Lost’ Actor - Current Odds: 7/1 - Over the course of the hit ABC series, three stars have been arrested by Hawaiian cops. Adwale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko) was nabbed for driving without a license, but the charges were later dropped.

Charges were not dropped, however, for Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros. They both pled guilty after being arrested for drunk driving.

Keep in mind, by the way, that all three of these actors have been killed off on the show.

Paris Hilton - Current Odds: 12/1 - By now, everyone on the planet is familiar with Paris Hilton’s antics. Currently serving out a jail sentence for parole violation, the pampered princess will be back out on the streets before you know it. After a DUI started her down the road to time behind bars, you would think she would have enough sense to stay off the sauce. If nothing else, hire a damned chauffeur.

Lindsay Lohan - Current Odds: 11/2 - In May of this year, Lindsay Lohan was arrested by Beverly Hills police for a DUI. Cops also found cocaine in her car, a substance which the tabloids claim Lindsay snorts enough of to make Tony Montana jealous. Two days later, she checked herself into rehab. She had already been in rehab four months earlier. This kid is a mess.

David Hasselhoff - Current Odds: 13/2 - Drunk on the floor and trying unsuccessfully to eat a hamburger - need we say more? Here’s hoping that “The Hoff” can turn things around.
