Vick Situation Worsens
Now that he’s been indicted on dog fighting charges, sources are saying that the NFL may ask Falcons QB Michael Vick to take a leave of absence and concentrate on his coming legal battle. Bottom line, stay away from Vick in your coming fantasy draft, as it looks more and more likely that he’ll miss some (if not all) of the 2007 season.
Just a thought. Didn’t Ray Lewis go through a murder trial during an NFL season? While I don’t condone dog fighting, I would hardly call it as serious a charge as taking another man’s life. Then again, the media has latched onto this one and doesn’t seem ready to let go for the foreseeable future.
Chambers to Plead Not Guilty
Dolphins WR Chris Chambers plans to plead not guilty to charges stemming from a recent arrest for driving under the influence. While I don’t remember Chambers ever being in trouble, this might bring down a suspension from the league, especially since the Vick situation has the NFL under a lot of scrutiny at the moment.
Pats May Cut Wide Receivers
According to reports, Patriots receivers Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney and Kelly Washington may not be on the team’s roster when training camp is over. After the team brought in guys like Randy Moss and Wes Welker, their days could be numbered.
Spears Loses Weight
Cowboys DL Marcus Spears has shed 20 pounds in the offseason. He is currently down to 290 pounds. If your league drafts individual defensive players, you might keep that in mind.
Culpepper Looking for a Home
After finally getting his release from the Dolphins, free-agent QB Daunte Culpepper met yesterday with Bucs coach John Gruden. While it’s uncertain where he might land, that Atlanta job may become wide open in the near future. If the money’s right, we could very well see Daunte sporting black and red in a month or two. Then again, Culpepper would only have to beat out Jeff Garica and Chris Simms to take the reins with the Bucs.
