Internet Gambling Petition Passes 5000 Signatures

To show their displeasure with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, a group of concerned online citizens started the Internet gambling petition in April of 2007. This document will be hand delivered to every congressman and senator in Washington in mid to late July, before everyone goes home on summer break.

While the petition had seemed to stall out at around 4,000 signatures, Chad Hills, a gambling analyst for the conservative Focus on the Family website, has inadvertently caused a resurgence in interest. Hills noted that Casino Gambling Web was going to be sending a representative to Washington to lobby for the repeal of the UIGEA. He then mocked the efforts of the gambling industry and stated that the petition has only garnered around 4,000 signatures.

The article found its way to the popular 2+2 forums, where outraged gamblers decided to stick it to Mr. Hills. In one day, the signatures on the petition jumped up 10%, and there are now over 5,000 unique names on the document.

According to one representative of the gambling community, “The goal is 10,000 signatures, but the more signatures added the more lawmakers will pay attention.”

Be sure and add you voice to the cause by clicking to sign the petition.
