NBA Ref Fixes Games - FBI Investigates

Uh, oh. Looks like NBA commissioner David Stern is about to have someone else who he can fine. Actually, the guy I’m talking about would be lucky to just get off with a fine. It‘s more likely that he‘ll be spending some serious time behind bars.

I’m talking about the NBA referee who is reported to be under investigation by the FBI for allegedly fixing games over the past two season. According to reports, the ref got in debt (due to a gambling problem) to members of the New York organized crime community. He then began to make calls during NBA games to influence the outcome of contests which he (and his mob buddies) were betting on. The number of affected games has been reported to be in the double digits.

Why do I get this feeling that Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban will claim half the affected games went against his team?

The yearlong investigation is said to be wrapping up, and arrests are expected to be made soon. According to an unidentified law enforcement official, the referee in question has made plans to turn himself in as early as next week.
