Wimbledon - Final Results

Wimbledon concluded this week, and both Venus Williams and Roger Federer must be very satisfied.

Williams moved back into the top 20 rankings for the first time in a year after defeating Marion Bartoli of France 6-4, 6-1. In the loss, Bartoli moved from a 19 ranking to a career-high 11th.

Not much changed at the top of the men’s rankings, as No. 1 Federer defeated No. 2 Rafael Nadal for the second straight year. The final score was 7-6 (9-7) 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 2-6 6-2.

If you bet on the outcome with a sports book like Bodog, you probably didn’t make much if you bet on Federer. Venus Williams, on the other hand, is a whole different story. Coming into the event, she was considered past her prime and in something of a career slump. On the wrong side of 30, everyone assumed that she was all but finished. Looks like those opinions may have to be shelved for a while longer.
