AOL Enters World of Online Gambling
A short time ago, Internet giant Yahoo! opened up an online poker room targeting citizens in the UK. This caused massive waves in the industry, mainly for the reason that online casinos will now have to compete with companies that actually own their own search engines. Such an advantage in marketing and advertising, immediately made Yahoo a player in the online gambling business.
Now it’s someone else’s turn.
ENTER AOL
AOL has officially entered into the realm of gambling. They recently signed an agreement with German-based online betting company FLUXX. As part of the agreement, they will be marketing sports betting on the Internet in the UK. AOL already had a previous deal with FLUXX subsidiary JAXX UK to market the lottery to German users.
Sadly, due to recent regulations in the United States (the dreaded UIGEA), American gamblers will not be able to enjoy this new service. But if you‘re from Europe, you can go ahead and start rejoicing.
According to AOL executive Michael Steckler, “We are looking at a range of partnerships and initiatives to drive our business forward in Europe.”
Well, I’m sure that this will do the trick.
