WEEK 9 OBSERVATIONS

1. After dropping their first 4 games of the season, there still looks to be life left in the New Orleans Saints. After stinking up the joint against the Colts, Bucs, Titans and Panthers, they’ve come to life and scored 28, 22, 31 and 41 in the last four games. At this rate, they’re still in the playoff hunt.

2. Adrian Peterson showed why the Vikings snatched him up in the 1st round of this year’s draft. He destroyed the Chargers run defense, going for 296 yards on the ground. That doesn’t just set a rookie record, it also breaks the single-game rushing record. This kid is gonna be huge!

3. This has really been a nightmare year for fantasy football owners. Players have been dropping like flies since week 1, and things still haven’t let up (Week 9 may have been the last game of the season for Larry Johnson). Just look at the top 5 rushers for week 9:

Adrian Peterson 296

Clinton Portis 196

Marshawn Lynch 153

Ernest Graham 124

Ron Dayne 122

Ron Dayne?! No wonder fantasy GMs are pulling their hair out.

4. The Patriots made it 9 and 0 by coming from behind in the fourth quarter and defeating the Colts on the road. It was a tough game, but winning the tough games is the mark of a truly great team. While I don’t see them going undefeated, they’re certainly looking more and more like a monster. If they don’t win the Super Bowl this year, it’ll be amazing.

5. The Lions have quietly amassed a 6-2 record on the season. They destroyed the Broncos on Sunday and have shown that they can get it done on the ground or through the air. Watch out for this team if they make it into the playoffs.
