Pavlik vs. Taylor II - Fight Results

On Saturday night, reigning WBC and WBO middleweight champion, Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik, once again faced off against Jermain Taylor. In their last encounter in September of 2007, Pavlik won his first world championship, and Taylor was handed his first career loss (and TKO‘d in the process). And while this bout was fought at a non-title weight of 166 pounds, there was more than enough pride on the line to keep things interesting.
While the fight was much closer this time, the bottom line was the same - another win for Kelly Pavlik (33-0, 29 KOs) and the second career loss for Jermain Taylor (27-2-1). Things were neck-and-neck until the 10th round, when Pavlik seemed to find another gear and begin to pull away. His body shots started to land, and then he rocked Taylor in the 11th round.
While the former champ was able to hang on and avoid a KO, he was not able to avoid the decision of the judges. They scored it 117-111, 115-113 and 116-112, all in favor of Pavlik.
Taylor will reportedly move up to super middleweight and compete, while Pavlik could possibly defend his titles against anyone from Felix Trinidad to John Duddy.
