Frank Shamrock vs. Cung Le - Bodog Odds

Saturday, March 29th, will see another joint venture between MMA promotions Strikeforce and EliteXC. This time around, the event will be known as Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Le, and it will feature the main event of Frank Shamrock versus Cung Le.

The show will be held at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and broadcast on the Showtime network. With Shamrock’s legendary MMA status and Le’s rabid following, this could prove to be the biggest card yet for the cable channel.

SHAMROCK VS. LE

Frank Shamrock was the first UFC Middleweight champ (later called the Light Heavyweight title), and he defended the belt five times before retiring from the promotion. He is currently the Strikeforce Middleweight champion and holds wins over Bas Rutten, Enson Inoue, Jeremy Horn, Tito Ortiz and Phil Baroni. His overall MMA record is 22-8-1 (with 13 wins coming by submission).

After a very impressive career in the world of martial arts, Cung Le made his MMA debut in 2006. He is currently 5-0, with all five wins coming by way of knockout. Shamrock, however, will be a major step up in competition for him, as he’s faced guys like Mike Altman and Brian Warren in previous bouts.

While this bout should make some money for all involved, I expect a short and decisive win for Shamrock. Frank will take him down, and that will be all she wrote. Of course, Frank is also an accomplished kickboxer, so he might get cocky and decide to stand and trade with Le. While this would no doubt delight the fans, he would be wise to avoid Le’s strength and capitalize on his weakness.
