The Masters Golf Tournament - Can Tiger Woods Win?

With the second round of The Masters Tournament underway, gold fans are all holding their breath to see if Tiger Woods can win a fifth green jacket (he won in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005). But he didn’t exactly set the world on fire on Thursday, making an eagle on the 15th hole (after bogeys on the 13th and 14th) to finish with a score of 72. But despite the less-than-impressive start, Tiger remained optimistic.

“I hit a lot of good putts, nothing really went,” he said. “I just had to stay patient out there, and I ended up okay, even par.”

His par was good enough to finish the first round in a tie for 19th place. And anyone who watches golf knows better than to count out Woods. He recently came back to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational after being tied for 20th on the third day. And with the weather expected to make things more difficult later in the week in Augusta, Woods could still end up running away with the event.

FIRST ROUND FINISHES

Justin Rose finished on top of the leader board after round one, shooting a 68 in the process (tied with Trevor Immelman of South Africa). Defending champ Zach Johnson shot a 70 along with Ian Poulter (who also made a hole-in-one), Robert Karlsson, Stephen Ames and Jim Furyk. Finishing with 69 were Brian Bateman and Brandt Snedeker.
