2008 World Series of Poker - Prop Bets from Bodog
Good news, poker fans! The 39th annual World Series of Poker officially starts today, May 30th, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The tournament will run until July 14th, and 55 different events will offer participants a chance to pick up a coveted championship bracelet.
NEW EVENTS AND CHANGES
For the first time ever, a $10,000 World Championship of Pot-Limit Hold’em will be held. This also happens to be the event which will kick off the tournament. Eight $1,500 championships will be held, eight $5,000 championships and an all-time high eight $10,000 buy-in championships.
But the biggest change will take place around the Final Table of the World Series of Poker Main Event.
THE NOVEMBER NINE
On July 14th, the Main Event field will have been whittled down to the final nine. But instead of playing on, the game will be suspended for a total of 117 days. During this time, the finalists (known as the “November Nine”) will have an opportunity to devise new strategies and study the play of their upcoming opponents. Then, on November 9th, the finalists will gather together back at the Rio and determine this year’s champion. For the first time ever, the final day of the competition will be covered in prime time by ESPN.
