NBA Playoffs - Betting Odds from Bodog

Three NBA playoff games are on tap for tonight, and Bodog is offering wagers on each one. Lets take a look at each:

The Magic lead the series 3 games to 1, and they find themselves hosting tonight’s game. If they win, they’ll close out the series and advance to the next round. The combination of Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoqlu have given the Raptors fits, especially against smaller defenders like Anthony Parker.

But the biggest problem for the Raptors has been figuring out how to stop Dwight Howard. He’s been lethal on the offensive boards, but his free-throw-shooting percentage isn’t quite as high as would be hoped for. Therefore, expect the Raptors to send him to the line as often as possible.

Toronto Raptors (+7 ½) vs. Orlando Magic (-7 ½)

It’s no real surprise that the Celtics lead this series, but many would have expected a clean sweep of the Hawks. As it is, Atlanta has managed to hang in and win one of the three games so far, in part due to a great performance by Josh Smith. Tonight, they’ll host Game Four.

The Celtics had their best regular season record since the days of Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, and they improved 42 games over last year. The eighth-seed Hawks, in the meantime, are making a trip to the playoffs for the first time since the 1998 season.

The Celtics are 5-0 in playoff series against the Hawks. Don’t expect that to change.

Boston Celtics (-9 ½) vs. Atlanta Hawks (+9 ½)

The Lakers lead the series 3 games to none, and they are 6-0 against the Nuggets this year. The frustration is beginning to show for players such as Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson, especially after Saturday’s 102-84 blowout.

I’ll keep this one short: Lakers in four.

Los Angeles Lakers (-5) vs. Denver Nuggets (+5)

Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers - Betting Odds from Bodog

Tonight, the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens will square off for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. It should be especially interesting, considering what happened at the end of Game 2.

After the Flyers went up 4-2, Canadiens’ winger Tom Kostopoulos nailed Flyers’ defenseman Kimmo Timonen with a cheap shot to the face. Kostopoulos only got a two-minute roughing call for an act which Philly head coach John Stevens called “cowardly,” but you can bet that Timonen’s teammates will be looking for payback tonight.

In fact, Canadiens’ coach Guy Carbonneau fired back by saying, “That’s one team that shouldn’t talk. They played 82 games and had the most suspensions in the league.” He then went on to rub salt in the wound by saying that Timonen deserved it.

Man, I’d love to see an NFL or NBA coach say that kind of thing. He’d get fined so fast that his head would spin.

Flyers’ goalie Martin Biron has been solid, making 34 saves for the team in the second game of the series.

Forward Mike Knuble may also be close to returning, as he was skating by himself on Sunday. The most likely scenario is that he’ll return for Game 4 on Wednesday.

Canadiens’ goalie Carey Price has struggled so far, allowing seven goals in two games.

The Canadiens will be without defenseman Patrice Brisebois on Monday night, as he did not travel with the team to Philadelphia. Instead, he was scheduled to consult with doctors on Monday regarding a leg injury suffered Saturday morning.

Here are the current Bodog odds for Game Three of the Canadiens versus Flyers. The series is currently tied at one game apiece.

Montreal Canadiens (+115) @ Philadelphia Flyers (-135)

Pacman Jones Betting Odds from Bodog

Now that former Titans’ cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, everyone is just holding their breath and waiting for the sounds of the impending train wreck. Owner Jerry Jones got him for a fourth-round pick (with a conditional sixth-rounder thrown in if he plays in 2008), which isn’t bad, considering Tennessee took him with the 5th pick overall in the 2005 draft.

Pacman has been in some serious legal trouble over the last few years, and a lot of it has taken place at strip clubs. Here’s a brief list of some of the charges which Pacman has faced:

Assault and Felony Vandalism (arrested in 2005)

Lack of contact with probation officer (2005)

Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication (arrested in 2006)

Misdemeanor Assault (cited in 2006)

Felony and Misdemeanor Obstruction of Justice (2006)

Marijuana Possession (2006 - charges eventually dropped)

Conspiracy to Commit Disorderly Conduct (pleaded guilty in 2007)

Looks like Pacman has been pretty busy over a three-year period!

Since the Cowboys have had a number of troubled players in the past, there’s no telling what will happen with Pacman Jones. Hopefully, he’ll turn over a new leaf, but I’m sure Dallas strip clubs are getting prepared, just in case.

Bodog is also getting prepared, as they’ve issued a number of prop bets for Pacman Jones. Take a look:

During which month will the first publicized report of Pacman Jones visiting Dallas-area strip clubs be released?

Friday's NBA Playoffs and Bodog Betting Odds

Tonight, the first round of the NBA playoffs continues with three exciting match-ups. Here’s a brief look at each, along with the current odds from Bodog sportsbook. If you‘ve never used Bodog before, why not give it a try? And remember - they also have an online casino that‘s second to none.

The series moves to the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, as the teams split the two games at The Palace in Auburn Hills. Game four will be played on Sunday. Detroit evened the series on Wednesday with five Pistons in double figures and a 105-88 drubbing. This is the Sixers’ first postseason visit since the 2004-2005 season, while the Pistons have made the Eastern Conference finals five years in a row.

According to Bodog, the current odds are:

Detroit Pistons (-5 ½) @ Philadelphia 76ers (+5 ½)

After their first-round choke job last year in the playoffs, is it any real surprise that the Mavs are down 2-0 against the Hornets? Neither game has been close, and the last was a 127-103 win in New Orleans. The series now moves back to Dallas, and you can probably expect the Mavericks to at least keep from getting swept. Still, the Hornets are hungry, so that +6 is looking mighty tempting.

New Orleans Hornets (+6) @ Dallas Mavericks (-6)

The Phoenix Suns are certainly the more exciting team to watch, so you can bet that the dull-as-hell Spurs will win the series. And they’re well on their way to doing so, having built a 2-0 lead in the series. In the last game, the Spurs won 102-96 thanks to 32 points from Tony Parker and 28 from the NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Manu Ginobili. If the Suns are going to make a comeback, it has to start tonight at the US Airways Center.

San Antonio Spurs (+7) @ Phoenix Suns (-7)

David Blaine to Break Record on Oprah Winfrey Show?

David Blaine has tried to perform a number of risky stunts during his career: being buried alive for seven days, encased in a closet of ice, locked in a Plexiglas case for 44 days without food and being submerged underwater for seven days and seven nights.

Upon completing the latter trick, Blaine then tried to break the world record for holding his breath underwater (8 minutes and 58 seconds). Blaine lasted 7 minutes and 33 seconds, before having to be rushed to the hospital.

Several months ago, you may remember our article about David Blaine’s next stunt - breaking the record for consecutive days without sleep. For whatever reason, however, Blaine was yet to attempt this dangerous challenge. Instead, he’s opted to try and break the underwater-breath-holding record again. But this time, he’s attempting it on television.

The good news for Blaine is that he’ll be making the attempt on Oprah Winfrey’s show on April 30th. Talk about a ton of exposure!

The bad news?

Someone else has broken the record since Blaine’s last attempt. The new record is almost double the old one at an astounding 16 minutes and 14 seconds. Let’s at least hope Oprah gives Blaine a new car for his efforts.

Here are Bodog’s current odds on the upcoming David Blaine stunt:

Will David Blaine break the Guinness World Record for holding his breath under water (16 minutes and 14 seconds) on the Oprah Winfrey show?

Yes +170

No -250

Carly Smithson Eliminated on American Idol

Another American Idol episode is in the books, and this time it was Carly Smithson’s turn to get the boot. The singer gave a great performance from Jesus Christ Superstar on a night when legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber was acting as mentor, but it wasn’t enough to save her from elimination.

According to Carly, “At this stage, everybody's thinking they're going home. I'm actually not that sad to be leaving. I think I made enough of an impact to be able to reach a good fan base. And now I just get to be me without a theme night and make a really cool record, so I'm excited.”

That leaves only five contestants on the seventh season of the show. As always, Bodog has up-to-date odds on all of them. Take a look.

Brooke White 30/1

Jason Castro 20/1

Marlee Matlin Eliminated from Dancing With the Stars

Another week for Dancing With the Stars, and that means it's time for another celebrity to go home. This time around, it was Marlee Matlin and her dance partner, Fabian Sanchez. The other couple in the bottom two was Mario and Karina Smirnoff, so they might be in danger next week.

There was also some drama backstage, as Shannon Elizabeth and partner Derek Hough apologized for their comments about the judges' critiques being unfair. No doubt, this did not help their chances of advancing in coming weeks.

Marlee was gracious in elimination, thanking the judges, her family, her dance partner, the fans and even Henry Winkler. And for those of you who don't know, Matlin is deaf. Imagine trying to dance without even being able to hear the music.

There are six celebs remaining, but who will walk away as the big winner? Check out Bodog's latest odds:

Cristian de la Fuente 18/1

Jason Taylor 5/1

Kristi Yamaguchi 1 /2

Mario 4/1

Marissa Jaret Winokur 40/1

Calvin Ayre Retires from Bodog!

It was announced today that Calvin Ayre would be retiring from his role as the face of Bodog. While we’re gonna miss him, potential customers should be aware that Bodog will continue to operate smoothly. In fact, Ayre transferred ownership of the brand in North American to the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group in the middle part of 2007. A European team is also in place to manage places such as Africa, Europe and Latin America. Bodog‘s main office is on the island nation of Antigua.

Ayre, a billionaire playboy and star of his own comic book, will be taking time to relax at his home on the island of Antigua. He has stated that he will also continue to work with various worldwide charities through his Calvin Ayre Foundation.

While I’ve never met Calvin Ayre, I certainly couldn’t help but like him. On a number of occasions, I referred to him as a “modern day Hugh Hefner” - and I meant that. Everything Ayre does seems classy - from posing with delicious-looking models to working to save brown bears from captivity in China. He’s just one of those guys who was all things to all people.

And now he’s gone.

Good luck, Calvin, and come back soon. The world needs a little class.

Kristy Lee Cook Eliminated from American Idol

The latest American Idol contestant to be eliminated is Kristy Lee Cook. The results were revealed Wednesday night, as grinning goof Ryan Seacrest presided over the event. Other members of the “Bottom Three” were Brooke White and Syesha Mercado.

Mariah Carey was the show‘s mentor for the week. Next week, it will be Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The 24-year-old cutie from Oregon claimed that she sold her horse to get the money to audition for the show. Now, the man who bought it won’t sell it back. Tip = don’t sell anything you might want back.

She said that appearing on Idol had been “a huge dream,” but admitted that she was surprised by her elimination, saying that she thought she had another week or two left in her.

For her final performance, Cook sat on the judges table and sang directly to Simon Cowell.

There are only six singers left, but that’s not stopping Bodog from taking bets. Here are there latest odds:

David Archuleta 10/13

Carly Smithson 30/1

Brooke White 35/1

NFL Mock Draft List for 2008 Football Season

With the NFL Draft only 10 days away, there’s much cause for rejoicing among football fans. Once the draft is over, it’s just a hop, skip and a jump until mini-camps. Then comes training camp. And before you know it, we’re smack in the middle of another football season.

Going into the draft, everyone has their opinion. Ask 10 different “experts,” and you’ll get 10 different answers. From the well-groomed Mel Kiper Jr., to the fat guy down the street with chronic pizza stains on his shirt, everyone seems to have an opinion. That’s what makes the NFL draft so great.

In order to give you an idea of some of the different ideas floating around out there, I thought I would compile a few mock drafts for your enjoyment (remember, there are only 31 first round picks due to the Patriots having their original pick revoked). Each of these has been updated within the last week. If you really want to have fun, why not print out the list and see who’s right come draft day?

And speaking of fun, don’t forget that Bodog has all your NFL betting needs covered. From team and player prop bets, to head-to-head betting lines, Bodog has everything you need.

Lakers Beat Kings - Secure Top Seed in Western Conference

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers downed the Sacramento Kings by a score of 124-101. In the process, Kobe and company officially secured the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They’ll face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.

Kobe Bryant scored 20 points, while Pau Gasol led the team with 22. Lamar Odom accounted for 15, Vladimir Radmanovic had 14 and Jordan Farmer contributed 13 off the bench.

For the Kings, Quincy Douby led all scorers with 32 points, which is especially impressive considering that he came off the bench. Beno Udrih scored 22, Francisco Garcia had 15 and Shelden Williams got 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Kings were without both Ron Artest (thumb) and Kevin Martin (strained knee).

At the half, the LA Lakers were up 62-48, and they never looked back. With seven minutes to go in the third, they had increased the margin to 19 points. To end the third quarter, they went on a 12-3 run. While the Kings struggled from the field, the Lakers opened up a 30 point lead with just over 5 minutes remaining in the contest.

As the regular season came to a close for the Lakers, they ended on a six game home winning streak. On the season, they were 30-11 at the Staples Center.

If you’re looking to wager on the NBA, there’s no better option than Bodog. And with the NBA playoffs starting this weekend, you can expect some great odds to be headed your way. Dancing With the Stars Eliminates Priscilla Presley

Dancing With the Stars was back for another episode on Tuesday night, and this time it was Priscilla Presley who got kicked off. The 62-year-old widow of Elvis Presley finished with the lowest score of the week, and her rumba only captured 21 out of 30 points.

Presley admitted to a weekly combination of candles and yoga to calm her nerves, but the tactic ultimately failed her in the end. Still, he did manage to outlast the likes of Adam Carolla, Steve Guttenberg, Penn Jillette and Monica Seles.

Like all the contestants so far, Presley was upbeat after her elimination. “This has been an incredible experience,” she said. “It is life-changing…I learned so much about myself and all the things I can do.”

With her elimination, seven celebrity dancers now remain, including Marlee Matlin, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Cristian de la Fuente, Shannon Elizabeth, Mario, Jason Taylor and Kristi Yamaguchi.

This week’s high score was Kristi Yamaguchi, while Marlee Matlin had the second-lowest score. The show airs each Tuesday night on ABC.

According to Bodog, here are the current odds on the remaining contestants:

Cristian de la Fuente 18/1

Jason Taylor 6/5

Kristi Yamaguchi 20/21

Mario 12/1

Marissa Jaret Winokur 60/1

Marlee Matlin 16/1

Shannon Elizabeth 25/1

2008 NFL Schedule is Released

With the release of the NFL schedule yesterday, football fans finally have something to talk about other than Pac-Man Jones and mock drafts. Let’s take a quick look at some of the more interesting games on the horizon.

On September 4th, the defending Superbowl champion New York Giants will host the Washington Redskins to open the NFL season. The Giants will also take on the Browns on Monday night (October 13th) and square off against the Eagles (Nov. 9th) and Cowboys (Dec. 14th) on NBC‘s Sunday night game.

The Cowboys only have one Monday night game this year, while the Cleveland Browns have three. I know the Browns had a great offense last year, but the schedule makers seem to be overcompensating a bit much. Still, Browns’ fans have to be tickled pink.

Mark down September 14th on your calendar, as that’s the day that the New England Patriots travel to the Meadowlands to take on the Jets. This is their first time back since the videotaping scandal, and we can once again watch the head coaches from both teams pretend not to hate one another.

The opening Monday night game of the year will take place in Lambeau Field, as the Favre-less Packers take on the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson. Later that night, Al Davis and Mike Shanahan will be full of love for one another, as the Broncos and Raiders will butt heads (and Javon Walker immediately gets a crack at his old team).

December 7th will go down in NFL history as the first league game to be played in Canada. More specifically, the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins will meet in the city of Toronto.

So who has the toughest schedule? Well, based on their opponents’ 2007 performance, that dubious honor goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last season, their 2008 opponents went a combined 153-103. They get the Patriots and Eagles on the road, plus the Cowboys, Chargers, Colts and Giants at home.

The Colts aren’t far behind, as they have the second hardest strength of schedule with opponents finishing 152-104 in 2007.

Patriot haters will be disgusted to know that the boys up in New England have the easiest strength of schedule, as their opponents combined for a 99-157 record last year. But it’s not all wine and roses, as the team will have to make a couple of back-to-back West Coast road trips (San Francisco and San Diego, Seattle and Oakland). This will force Belichick to either fly his team across the country twice in one week or stay put on the West Coast between games.

Wow! With the draft only a couple of weeks away, it’s starting to feel like football season is just around the corner. This year, why not make Bodog your sportsbook of choice? You won’t find more generous odds or better customer service, and they even accept bettors from the United States.

Angels Upset Rangers 7-4 in MLB Action

On Tuesday, The Ballpark in Arlington was the setting for a MLB showdown between the Angels and the Texas Rangers. Unfortunately for Rangers’ fans, their team came out on the losing end, 7-4. This gave the Angels a sweep of their two-game series in Arlington.

Despite falling behind by four runs in the first three innings, the Angels battled back with three runs in the fourth behind Casey Kotchman’s two-run blast. In the fifth, they tied the game with a Garret Anderson RBI single.

While former reliever Dustin Moseley was yanked in the fifth, the Angels ended up using a total of five pitchers to get through the game. In the end, Darren Oliver got the win in relief (1-0).

In the second inning, Rangers’ pitcher Kevin Millwood was struck in the left shin by a line drive from Maicer Izturis. Needless to say, a large bruise soon followed. Millwood gutted it out as long as he could, but he was forced to leave in the fifth inning.

Once Millwood was gone, the Angels took advantage of Texas reliever Josh Rupe (0-1), scoring three runs in the sixth inning thanks to a bases-loaded double by Gary Matthews.

For all your MLB betting needs, Bodog is the place to go. Every game. Every day. What more could you want? They’ve also got a ton of prop bets based on total homers, strikes, RBIs and much, much more.

The Rangers, by the way, were -1 ½ favorites heading into the game, and the over/under was set at 10.

Dallas Stars vs. Anaheim Ducks - NHL Playoff Odds

As the NHL Western Conference quarterfinals heat up on Tuesday night, the Dallas Stars will be looking to jump out to a three game to none lead over the defending Stanley Cup champion Anaheim Ducks. To make matters worse for the (once Mighty) Ducks, the teams will be playing at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

With home-ice advantage over the Stars, many expected a quick 2-0 series lead for the Ducks. This was supported by the fact that the Stars bumbled their way to a 4-8-2 record to close out the regular season. But the Stars weren’t willing to play along, blowing the Ducks out 4-0 in the opening game at the Honda Center before delivering a 5-2 drubbing a couple of days later.

The Stars will host games 3 and 4, where their regular season record was 23-16-2. The Ducks, meanwhile, struggled on the road this year, going an unimpressive 19-18-4 when away from the OC.
While Dallas fans aren’t really known for the passion, it’s certain that tonight’s game will elicit louder cheers than usual. For one, a series win over the Ducks will give them their first opening round win since 2003.

Last year, they became the first West Coast team to ever hold Lord Stanley’s Cup aloft. Winning back-to-back titles would make them the first since the Red Wings did it in 1997 and 98.

And with Chris Pronger and Teemu Selanne back in the lineup, this seemed like a certainty (especially when you consider that the Ducks wrapped up the season with a record of 20-5-1). But don’t forget that Dallas won the regular season series 5-3.

Going into this series, Bodog had the Ducks as 7/1 favorites, while the Stars were getting 18/1. It’s far from over, but those odds are looking pretty sweet right now.

And in case you’re wondering, the Stars (playing at home) at -130 favorites for tonight’s game. The visiting Ducks are coming in at the moment as +110 dogs.

Jamie Lynn Spears Pregnancy Betting Odds

Jamie Lynn Spears is hot - there’s no doubt about it. Of course, she’s also 17 years old. That’s why I was a little surprised when she recently announced that she was pregnant. Call me old-fashioned, but it’s hard to believe that someone who stars on a Nickelodeon show is going to be a mother. Than again, she is the sister of the always-wacky Britney Spears, so I guess it’s just par for the course.

Spears claims that the father of her child is one Casey Aldridge, 18, a pipe layer and longtime boyfriend. While I envy his “pipe laying” skills, Mr. Aldridge is lucky to have narrowly avoided a statutory rape predicament. Luckily, he’s only a couple of years older, and this makes it a misdemeanor in the state of California. Way to work the system, Casey!

It’s been reported that the star of Zoey 101 will raise the baby in a normal environment in Louisiana. While Jamie Lynn’s definition of normal might be a bit skewed, it’s certainly gotta be calmer than Los Angeles. Earlier this month, it was also reported that Aldridge and Spears have become engaged.

If it has anything to do with Britney Spears or her kin, you can bet your bottom dollar that Bodog will be eager to get in on the action. For example, they are currently offering the following prop bets relating to Jamie Lynn Spears.

Bodog Odds on Bobby Brown's New Book

Everyone’s favorite deadbeat husband, Bobby Brown, has written a new book called Being Bobby Brown: The Whole Truth and Nothin’ But. In in, the former pop superstar dishes on all manner of sordid celebrity tales. For example…

On the relationship between Bobby’s ex-wife Whitney Houston and singer/porn director Ray J: “Their relationship doesn't bother me. She's open to see whoever she wants to see, just like I can see who I want to see. I know the age difference between her and the little guy is 20 years, but to each his own. The only concern I had was how our daughter felt about the age difference. As long as she's cool with it, it's fine by me.”

After leaving New Edition and finding solo success, Brown claims he seduced “half the industry.” He goes on to say, “By the time I reached my third single on the 'Don't Be Cruel' album, I was one of the biggest stars in the world. You know what that means. With success comes the women! A wise man once told me that. At this time, I probably had dated half of the industry, including Madonna.”

He also claims that ex-wife Whitney got him addicted to cocaine. “I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice. At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine.”

He also mentions that his breakup with Janet Jackson caused him to move from beer to hard liquor. In addition, he addresses the rumors concerning his former wife’s bi-sexuality.

According to Brown, “The book is really good. I'm not a complex person. I'm just trying to maintain a certain amount of integrity—and a certain amount of bad boy-ness. I think the story needs to be told from my point of view.”

Yeah, right. This is a story that the world just couldn’t do without.

With so many juicy details being thrown around in the pages of the book, Bodog is offering odds on whether or not lawsuits will result from its release. The maximum wager is $50, and any lawsuits must be filed by June 15th, 2008. The current odds on whether or not he will be sued are:

Naomi Campbell Arrest Odds from Bodog

In case you hadn’t noticed, model Naomi Campbell is freakin’ crazy. Yeah, she’s hot, but that only goes so far when you’re behaving like a complete lunatic. Need proof? Then read on.

Campbell was arrested and later released on bail after a throwdown in London’s Heathrow Airport over some lost luggage. She reportedly spat at a female officer and was then removed from the plane in handcuffs. She has since been banned for life from flying with British Airways.

There have also been rumors that Campbell called the policewoman a “white slag,” and then claimed she was being treated poorly because she was black. Where’s Johnnie Cochran when you need him? Oops. That’s right, he’s dead. Moving on.

But this isn’t the first bit of trouble for the feisty supermodel.

In 2000, she pleaded guilty to beating an assistant while making a film in 1998. She beat the female assistant with a phone and later threatened to throw her from a moving vehicle. After groveling, Campbell was released without punishment or a black mark on her record.

In 2005, assistant Amanda Brack claims that Campbell beat her in the head with a BlackBerry. Brack began legal proceedings in 2006, claiming verbal and physical abuse on three continents (is that a record?). To show that she doesn’t take any crap from lackeys, Naomi countersued for an unspecified amount.

Yvonne Scio, an Italian actress and friend of Campbell, claims that the model left her “covered in blood” after a beatdown at a hotel in Rome. The reason? Campbell was reportedly pissed after Scio showed up to an event wearing a similar dress. According to Scio, “She punched me in the face. She was like Mike Tyson.”

This stuff just writes itself, doesn’t it?

Two different housekeepers have filed suits against her. One claims that she threw a phone at her head after an argument over a pair of jeans, while the other claims that she’s a “violent super-bigot.”

With a record of such violent behavior, one has to wonder if Naomi will end up doing any jail time or probation this year? Well, Bodog has you covered, and they’re taking bets on this one all the way up to $50.

Will supermodel Naomi Campbell be sentenced to jail time or probation in 2008?

The Masters Golf Tournament - Can Tiger Woods Win?

With the second round of The Masters Tournament underway, gold fans are all holding their breath to see if Tiger Woods can win a fifth green jacket (he won in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005). But he didn’t exactly set the world on fire on Thursday, making an eagle on the 15th hole (after bogeys on the 13th and 14th) to finish with a score of 72. But despite the less-than-impressive start, Tiger remained optimistic.

“I hit a lot of good putts, nothing really went,” he said. “I just had to stay patient out there, and I ended up okay, even par.”

His par was good enough to finish the first round in a tie for 19th place. And anyone who watches golf knows better than to count out Woods. He recently came back to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational after being tied for 20th on the third day. And with the weather expected to make things more difficult later in the week in Augusta, Woods could still end up running away with the event.

Justin Rose finished on top of the leader board after round one, shooting a 68 in the process (tied with Trevor Immelman of South Africa). Defending champ Zach Johnson shot a 70 along with Ian Poulter (who also made a hole-in-one), Robert Karlsson, Stephen Ames and Jim Furyk. Finishing with 69 were Brian Bateman and Brandt Snedeker.

It’s never too late to hop on over to Bodog and place a few dollars on your favorite golfer. And did I mention that Bodog accepts American customers? At the moment, the three favorites are Tiger Woods (13/8), Justin Rose (9/1) and Phil Mickelson (9/1). If underdogs are more your style, you might consider Steve Flesch (125/1), Henrik Stenson (125/1) or Boo Weekley (125/1).

Michael Johns Eliminated from American Idol

Even though the show didn’t air until Thursday night, that didn’t stop Michael Johns from being eliminated from American Idol. The Australian singer, once considered a contender to win the contest, was sent packing in front of a shocked crowd, many of whom booed the decision. The other members of the bottom three were Syesha Mercado and Carly Smithson.

No-talent Ryan Seacrest started off the elimination proceedings by directing the first five contestants to the safety couches. This left only the bottom three. He then let everyone know that Mercado and Smithson were safe, but followed it up with, “Last year, we didn’t eliminate anyone during the ‘Idol Gives Back’ week….”

A hush fell over the crowd, waiting for the next words from the insanely grinning hack,

“…but Michael Johns leaves us tonight.”

Here’s hoping that Seacrest’s already-too-long career comes to an end in the same manner. But I digress.

Is Brett Favre Really Retired? - Bodg Odds

Well, it looks like the speculation over quarterback Brett Favre’s return to the NFL just won’t die. Of course, it doesn’t help that the media keeps poking this story for any sign of life.

And the former Packers’ star seems happy to take the bait. Just check out his most recent statement concerning a return if new starter Aaron Rodgers should get hurt:

“It would be hard to pass up, I guess. But three months from now, say that presents itself, I may say, you know what, I’m so glad I made the decision to retire. I feel very comfortable in what I’m doing and my decision.”

He went on to add, “If that opportunity presented itself and they did call, it would be tempting. And I could very well be enticed to do it.”

Note to Brett Favre: MAKE UP YOUR FRIGGIN’ MIND!

Add to the above statement rumors that his agent has been contacting other teams about a possible trade. And don’t forget the fact that Favre has yet to file his retirement papers with the NFL league office. The Packers have to be going nuts, as they’ll clear over $11 million in cap room if the 17-year veteran finally hangs up his cleats.

Whatever the outcome, you can wager some money on it over at Bodog. The betting limit for this one is $50.

Will Gene Upshaw Be Fired? - Bodog Odds

Things are starting to look rough for Gene Upshaw, head of the NFL Player’s Union. A recent email from Ravens kicker Matt Stover (the team’s union rep) leaked to the media and fanned the flames. In it, Stover addressed other player representatives and called for them to get rid of Upshaw before the new collective bargaining agreement is worked out in November.

The league’s owners are reportedly unhappy with the players getting 60 percent of the revenue, and it’s almost a certainty that they’ll bring everybody back to the negotiation table. According to his email, Stover felt that Upshaw is too accommodating to the owners and might actually cave in during negotiations.

Some conspiracy theorists even believe that the owners may have been behind the leaked email, hoping to cause a falling out among union members.

But this wasn’t the first time that players have taken issue with Upshaw. Many view his $7 to $11 million annual salary as too high. He has also drawn criticism for not doing enough to help retired players. Still, he does have his supporters, as NFL players such as center Kevin Mawae (president of the Player’s Association) have spoke out on his behalf.

Leave it to Bodog to set odds on this brewing feud. Just keep in mind that the max bet in $50. Of course, you can also bet on everything from the NBA playoffs to the next Superbowl champ.

Will Gene Upshaw be fired or resign from the Executive Director Position of the NFLPA before the start of the 2009-2010 season?

Adam Carolla Eliminated from Dancing With the Stars

This week on Dancing With the Stars, it was comedian and radio host Adam Carolla who got voted off the show. Sadly, he was partnered with the incredibly fine Julianne Hough, so I won’t get to ogle her for the rest of the season. God, I can’t wait for the seventh season to get here!

After performing a dance routine which featured a unicycle and drew a 19 out of a possible 30, the writing was on the wall for the former host of The Man Show. Judge Len Goodman summed it up when he told Carolla, “You are such a lovable character that (we) just want you to do well, but unfortunately you’re not much of a dancer.”

But like Steve Guttenberg the week before, Carolla remained upbeat after his elimination. “I recommend this experience to anyone who’s scared of everything,” he said. “You at home, there’s something that scares you. There’s something that’s your Dancing With the Stars. Embrace it. Don’t run from it.”

He also had nothing but praise for partner Hough. “I lost 25 pounds of fat, and I gained 105 pounds of angel.”

So who’s the next to be kicked off the dance floor for good? The smart money would be on Priscilla Presley, as she brought in the second-lowest score of the week with 22. Then again, Marissa Jaret Winokur seems to hover around the bottom, so it might be her getting the axe next week. The top spot, meanwhile, was a tie between athletes Jason Taylor and Kristi Yamaguchi - both of whom scored a 29 out of 30.

With only eight contestants left, Bodog has updated their odds. Take a look.

NHL Playoffs First Round - Hockey and Bodog Odds

On Wednesday night, the NHL playoffs will officially get underway. With Lord Stanley’s Cup on the line, you can bet that every shot will be a little crisper and every punch will be thrown a little harder. Here’s a look at all the first-round playoff match-ups. Back in October, Bodog posted odds on which team would win the Stanley Cup. Next to the name of each team, I‘ve posted those odds.

Eastern Conference

No. 1 Montreal Canadiens (40/1) vs. No. 8 Boston Bruins (30/1) - Montreal has a perfect 8-0 record this year against the Bruins, so many expect this one to be a sweep. It doesn’t help that the Bruins’ leading scorer, Marc Savard, is suffering from a nagging back injury. The Bruins will need a miracle to get out of the first round.

No. 2 Pittsburgh Penguins (9/1) vs. No. 7 Ottawa Senators (15/2) - These two teams squared off in last year’s opening round, and the Senators won the series 4-1. This year, however, Pittsburgh is 3-1 against the Sens in regular season play. The Penguins boast the best offense in the league with players like Malkin, Crosby and Hossa, and the Senators will be without the injured Daniel Alfredsson.

No. 3 Washington Capitals (38/1) vs. No. 6 Philadelphia Flyers (10/1) - The Capitals are led this year by Alexander Ovechkin, who should win the NHL MVP in a landslide. This is their first playoff appearance since 2003. During the regular season, the series was tied between the two teams at 2.

No. 4 New Jersey Devils (20/1) vs. No. 5 New York Rangers (5/1) - The Rangers won 7 out of 8 games between the two teams in the regular season. The Rangers were second in the league in home wins, but the Devils also have goalie Martin Brodeur. Expect this one to go down to the wire.

Western Conference

No. 1 Detroit Red Wings (7/1) vs. No. 8 Nashville Predators (75/1) - Detroit won the regular season series 5-3, but two games had to won by shootouts. In February, the number-one-seeded Wings went 1-8-2, but they have since righted the ship and lost only once in regulation in their last nine games. They should have more than enough in the tank to dispose of the Predators.

No. 2 San Jose Sharks (8/1) vs. No. 7 Calgary Flames (25/1) - Calgary won the regular season series 3-1, but San Jose has been smoking’ hot as of late. Sure, they lost back-to-back games to close the regular season, but they had nothing to play for at that point. Despite their success in the regular season against the Sharks, expect the Flames to go down in six games.

No. 3 Minnesota Wild (5/1) vs. No. 6 Colorado Avalanche (17/1) - The Wild won the series 5-3, and they only lost twice in regulation over their last 14 games. Translation = they’re on a massive hot streak. Still, the Avalanche will be getting back captain Joe Sakic, who missed 38 games with a hernia. It’ll be tough, but I’m betting on the Avalanche to win this series.

No. 4 Anaheim Ducks (7/1) vs. No. 5 Dallas Stars (18/1) - With Teemu Selanne back in the lineup, the Ducks are an impressive 20-5-1. Meanwhile, the Stars staggered to the finish line with a record of 4-8-2 to end the season. Keep in mind, though, that Dallas won the series 5-3. Still, I’ll be amazed if the return of Chris Pronger (coming back from a suspension) doesn’t lift the Ducks to an ultimate series win.

NCAA Championship Finals Results

March Madness is at an end, and the Kansas Jayhawks are this year’s NCAA champions. And what an exciting game it was, as Mario Chambers sunk a three-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. The Jayhawks then roared out and scored six straight points on the way to a 75-68 win over the Memphis Tigers.

This was the third NCAA title for the Jayhawks, and the first since 1988. The team finished the season with a record of 37-3. It was also the first championship win for Kansas coach Bill Self, and his first Final Four appearance in 15 years of coaching at the college level.

With two minutes left in regulation, the Jayhawks were down by nine.

“I thought we were national champs,” said Memphis coach John Calipari.

But Memphis failed to close the deal, due in large part to an inability to make free throws. This had plagued Memphis all season, but it finally caught up with them at the worst time possible. With 16.8 seconds left, Chris Douglas-Roberts missed two free throws. Moments later, another Memphis player went 1 for 2.

With the win, Kansas becomes the sixth school to win three or more NCAA titles. Only North Carolina, UCLA and Duke have more Final Four appearances.

And perhaps it’s appropriate that James Naismith, the inventor of the game of basketball, was the program’s first coach.

“I think when you talk about tradition and history, there’s other great programs that have it,” said Self. “But nobody has the inventor of the game as their first coach.”

By the way, I hope all of you cleaned up over at Bodog. They’ve offered wagers on every single NCAA game, as well as the NIT tournament. With their excellent customer service and generous odds, there’s really no excuse not to make them your sportsbook of choice.

Steve Guttenberg Eliminated from Dancing With the Stars

Actor Steve Guttenberg is a happy guy. He even seemed happy about getting voted off of Dancing With the Stars on Tuesday night.

According to Guttenberg (also known affectionately as The Gutte), “It’s made me a better person.”

And if that wasn’t optimistic enough, the star of Three Men and a Baby was later quoted as saying, “I have a great life. I’m so lucky.”

Unfortunately, he wasn’t as blessed on the dance floor, becoming the third celebrity dancer to be sent home. Monday’s lowest score, by the way, went to Marissa Jaret Winokur.

So what about the remaining celebrities? Who will be the next to go? Let’s take a look at the latest odds according to Bodog.

Ramiele Malubay Eliminated on American Idol

On Wednesday night, another contestant was eliminated on American Idol. This time, it was 21-year-old Ramiele Malubay. Despite the fact that she had never finished in the bottom three before, the 4’11” songstress still got the axe and left only eight contestants remaining.

This week, contestants sang Dolly Parton songs, and Malubay chose “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.” The rest of the low vote-getters were Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White. Expect one of these young ladies to be gone by this time next week.

In another note, contestant David Cook had to go to the hospital on Tuesday after having “heart palpitations,“ but he was back on Wednesday and looked fine. Here’s hoping that everything is okay with Cook, as he may be the only one who can stop the jailbait juggernaut which is David Archuleta.

According to Bodog, here are the most recent odds on the remaining American Idol contestants.

With so many MMA fights, you have to expect that a few of them would be upsets. However, according to the odds posted by Bodog, there were a whopping five upsets. That’s exactly why you should be wagering on MMA, as it always affords the bettor an excellent opportunity to pick underdogs.

The biggest upset of the night was Anthony Johnson (+205) knocking out Tommy Speer in just 51 seconds.

Another major upset was James Irvin (+190) knocking out Houston Alexander in just 8 seconds. And believe me, anybody who’s seen Alexander in action should know that he’s an overrated fighter. Hope you were smart enough to place a few bucks on that one.

NCAA Final Four Odds from Bodog

This weekend’s Final Four showdown will mark the first time in NCAA history that all four Number One seeds have advanced to the semi-finals (sorry, Davidson fans). With a combined record of 143-9, this foursome has been destroying opponents all season, so now it’s only appropriate that they get to turn their attention to one another.

Of the 16 tournament games these teams have played so far, only three have been decided by fewer than 10 points. But despite the blowouts of their opponents, don’t expect the betting line to be too lopsided. When a bunch of #1 seeds play each other, the bookies no doubt get a little excited. I mean, what better way to get plenty of bets on both sides of the line?

Memphis -2 ½ vs. UCLA +2 ½

Kansas +3 ½ vs. North Carolina - 3 ½
