Dancing with the Stars Season Seven - Betting Odds from Bodog

The seventh season of Dancing with the Stars is underway, and the third show is scheduled to air on ABC tonight. As always, Bodog is offering odds on the star-studded event, so here’s an opportunity to enjoy a little ballroom dancing and make some money in the process.

By the way, the ever-hot Jessica Simpson is scheduled to perform tonight, so be sure to tune in.

DANCING WITH THE STARS ELIMINATIONS

During the first week of the show, two episodes were aired. On each, one of the contestants was eliminated. On September 23rd, comedian Jeffrey Ross and partner Edyta Sliwinska were eliminated after receiving the lowest score from the judges. The following night, television actor Ted McGinley and partner Inna Brayer were given the boot. That leaves just 11 couples competing for the title.

NEVER A DULL MOMENT

You never know what’s going to happen on Dancing with the Stars. For example, we’ve already seen 82-year-old Cloris Leachman thrust her sweaty boobs into the face of a judge. While openly gay Lance Bass shared a passionate kiss with dance partner Lacey Schwimmer. That’s what I call wacky, folks.

SEASON SEVEN BETTING ODDS

Coming into tonight’s show, here are where the odds stand according to Bodog:

Lance Bass 5/1

Toni Braxton 4/1

Brooke Burke 2/1

Rocco Dispirito 20/1

Maurice Greene 5/1

Kim Kardashian 20/1

Cloris Leachman 100/1

Cody Linley 4/1

Susan Lucci 5/1

Misty May-Treanor 4/1

Warren Sapp 3/1

Be sure to check back with Bodog on a weekly basis, as they will continue to update the odds throughout the season. You can also read our weekly update right here on Dare to Gamble.

NFL Week Two Betting Odds from Bodog

The 2nd week of the NFL season is in the books, and it was another roller coaster ride. Guys came out of nowhere to launch their NFL careers, while some veterans all but disappeared from the playing field. In short, it was the wild and crazy NFL that we’ve all come to know and love.

NFL BETTING - RESULTS

This is the part where I talk about how I did the week before with my picks. In Week One, I finished with a record of 7-8. I was hoping to improve for Week Two, and I guess I technically did. For the second week, I finished with a record of 7-6-1, bringing my overall record so far to 14-14-1.

I guess being at .500 isn’t so bad. Of course, I’d still be in the hole with the vigorish factored in.

WEEK THREE NFL ODDS

Let’s jump right in and see what’s on tap for Week Three in the NFL. As always, my picks are in bold, and the odds are courtesy of Bodog‘s online sportsbook.

Meet the Members of Team Bodog!

From time to time, Team Bodog has been mentioned here at DaretoGamble. This may have left some of you wondering, “Who the hell is Team Bodog?”. Well, we’re going to try and clear that up right now.

You see, Team Bodog is a group of poker players assembled by Bodog Online Casino for the purposes of competition and publicity. This group of poker stars travels around the world playing poker, and Bodog reaps the benefits of the publicity they generate. It’s a great deal for both parties.

When you play online poker at Bodog, there’s also a chance that you might be playing against one of these poker masters. But don’t despair, as they have been defeated from time to time by skilled Internet players. Maybe you can be next!

TEAM BODOG PROFILES

EVELYN NG

The lovely Evelyn Ng was born on September 14th, 1975 in Toronto, Canada. At the age of 17, she got her first taste of professional gambling when she became a poker and blackjack dealer at a Toronto casino. She met Daniel Negreanu, himself a Toronto native, and he became her poker mentor.

When she turned 21, she headed for Vegas and decided to pursue poker as a full-time job. In 2005, she beat out Annie Duke and Kathy Liebert to finish second in the Ladies Night event on the World Poker Tour. From there, she finished in the money in a number of tournaments. She also appeared on shows such as King of Vegas and Criss Angel Mindfreak. In 2006, she won over $250,000 by playing poker.

Known to many as “Evybabee,” Ng lists her biggest poker thrill as raising all-in on a bluff for the first time and getting away with it. When she’s not traveling the globe for Bodog, she can be found playing at their online poker room.

JEAN-ROBERT BELLANDE

Born in 1970 in Long Island, New York, Jean-Robert comes from Haitian ancestry. His early life was spent in Asia, and he later gained a B.A. in marketing from Azusa Pacific University.

Bellande gained fame by promotion L.A.’s trendiest nightclubs, such as the Gate, Tatou and the Roxbury. Along the way, he also opened up Sky Sushi, his very own Hollywood nightspot.

These days, Bellande makes a living as a professional poker player and member of Team Bodog. He made it to the final table of the WSOP circuit event in 2005, and he won over $200,000 by doing so. That same year, he was also ranked as the 6th best poker player in the world.

He has 29 career cashes and total winnings over nearly $1 million. While he’s yet to win the WSOP Main Event, Jean-Robert has competed on Survivor: China and outlasted seven other competitors.

DAVID WILLIAMS

Born in Dallas, Texas, David Williams always had a gift for numbers. He scored 1550 on his SAT and then maintained a 4.0 average while studying at SMU and Princeton.

He taught himself to play poker and then gained attention by taking second place at the 2004 WSOP Main Event. He won $3.5 million in the event, and that’s when he was asked to become a member of Team Bodog.

He won his first WSOP bracelet in 2006, defeating John Hoang in the $1,500 7-Card Stud event. Since then, he’s gained a total of 45 cashes and four first place finishes. At the age of only 26, he’s made over $5.5 million by playing professional poker.

David currently lives in Las Vegas, where he takes every opportunity to sharpen his poker skills. Aspiring players can also read about his thoughts on the game on Bodog’s website, as he has written a couple of articles on heads-up strategy.

JUSTIN BONOMO

Born in Virginia in 1985, Bonomo first started playing cards during the Magic: The Gathering craze. He then made the transition to poker, starting a $0.50/$1 game in 2002 at the tender age of 17. By the age of 21, he had already made hundreds of thousands of dollars.

He really came into his own by finishing fourth at the 2005 French Open. He was the youngest player at the television table at the time. Since then, he’s made a number of final tables, including the Bellagio Five Diamond and Caesars Palace Classic.

Known online as “ZeeJustin,” Bonomo has now won over $1,400,000 by playing professional poker. He combines an analytical approach with keen opponent-reading instincts. He plays in almost all of Bodog’s major online poker tournaments, so entering these events will give you a chance to match wits with one of the greatest poker minds alive today.

Bodog Poker Open II - Online Poker Tournament

The first Bodog Poker Open took place in March, and now it’s time for the sequel. That’s right, it’s the Bodog Poker Open II!

In the first Bodog Poker Open, online player “phatcat” walked away with a whopping $76,280 (plus an engraved watch worth $4,400) by defeating “-TheFinisher_” in heads-up play. That was part of a $305,120 prize pool, and the top 54 finishers got a cut of the money. It was also the biggest poker tournament in Bodog’s history, by the way.

BODOG POKER SATELLITES

This tournament is going to be even bigger than the first, and the overall prize pool is certain to be in the hundred-thousand dollar range. If you want a piece of that action, all you’ll need to do is visit Bodog and open an account. If you’re already a customer, then all you’ll have to do is find a time that fits your schedule. That won’t be hard, as satellite tournaments are running throughout the week.

To find the appropriate satellite tournaments, just looked for the ones marked “BPO,” which is short for “Bodog Poker Open.” If you like, you can also just skip the whole satellite process and directly buy-in to the Bodog Poker Open II Main Event.

Ontario Casino Fights Discrimination Lawsuit

There are lots of lawsuits out there which make me shake my head in disgust. One of the most recent examples involves the Great Blue Heron Charity Casino in Port Perry, Ontario.

THE CASINO POLICY

The washrooms at the casino have to be cleaned, and the casino had always maintained a policy of having men clean the men’s room and women clean the ladies’ washroom. This seemed to work out well, until Joanne Seguin, a part-time washroom attendant, claimed the policy was discriminatory.

DISCRIMINATION OR NITPICKING?

Seguin was hired in 2002. Working on the weekends, she was making $10.83 an hour. Around the same time, Matthew Welts was hired as a part-time attendant for the men‘s washroom.

In December of 2002, Welts received a full-time position with the housekeeping staff. Part of their responsibility was to clan the washrooms, including the ones where no attendant was present.

Seguin wanted to know why the job opening hadn’t been posted. Welts told her he had been hired because another man had quit. Upon hearing this, Seguin promptly complained to her boss. She later quit the casino in 2003 due to a “breach of trust and conduct.” She then filed a complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

THE HEARING

During a hearing on the matter, officials with the casino admitted that Welts got the job based on his gender. Since the men’s bathroom must be cleaned while customers are present, they wanted to hire a man in accordance with their policy of same-gender washroom cleaning.

The official hearing the case ruled in favor of Seguin, calling the behavior “direct discrimination on the basis of sex.” Seguin was awarded 50 percent of her lost wages (plus interest) and $10,000 for a loss of dignity and self-respect.

The casino appealed to the Ontario Superior Court, but the ruling was upheld. They are now considering one more appeal on the matter.

According to reports, Seguin just wants the matter to be over. The casino, by the way, now has full-time washroom attendants.

Best of Vegas List for 2008

Without a doubt, there’s plenty to do and see in Las Vegas. It’s truly the city that never sleeps, and every kind of vice and interest is catered to.

Of course, the level of quality varies, and some diversions are more appealing than others. For the tourist making their first visit to Sin City, it can often be difficult to tell the difference. That’s why the yearly “Best Of” list by Reviewjournal.com is so helpful.

Each year, the website’s staff and readers vote on the best and worst to be found in Vegas. From celebrities to breakfast buffets, it’s the definitive source for what you should see (or avoid) in Nevada’s most famous city.

The following list is not complete. Instead, I’ve chosen to focus on some of the items which our readers at Dare to Gamble might find the most interesting. For a complete list, just visit the Reviewjournal website (which is free, by the way).

2008 BEST OF LAS VEGAS AWARDS

Best Amusement Ride - Desperado - With drops of more than 200 feet, this roller coaster wrapped around Buffalo Bill’s is the most nausea-inducing ride in the entire city.

Best Meal for Less than $10 - In-N-Out Burger - With multiple locations in the Las Vegas area, this burger franchise sells a double-double burger, fries and shake for less than $10. Hard to beat that kind of deal.

Best Coffee/Cappuccino - Starbucks - This famous gourmet coffee chain probably has 100 locations in Vegas. Dunkin’ Donuts came in second place.

Best Singles Bar - Kona Grill - With plenty of aquariums, sushi and a hip patio, this is the finest destination for singles looking to relax and mingle with the opposite sex.

Best Gentlemen’s Club - Spearmint Rhino Adult Cabaret - The chosen spot for visiting (and horny) celebrities, The Spearmint Rhino is considered one of the finest strip clubs on the planet. As expected, the selection of dancers is second to none, but the place is also wickedly addictive.

Best Family Attraction - Circus Circus - There’s something here for everyone, from an arcade and amusement park to clowns and a circus. What more could you want?

Best All-Around Performer - Danny Gans - This well-known impressionist is a favorite in Vegas. You can catch him performing nightly at The Mirage.

Best Bingo - Red Rock Resort - This bingo hall is massive, and smoker’s even have their own section in which to kill themselves without harming others.

Best Blackjack - Red Rock Resort - Red Rock wins again, quickly moving up my list of places to visit on my next Vegas trip. Too bad Bodog isn‘t located in Vegas, as their online blackjack games would have been a cinch to make the list.

Best Male Strip Show - Thunder from Down Under - Since lots of about-to-be-married women go to Vegas to party, it’s only appropriate to include this selection. These Australian hunks knocked Chippendales off the top of the list after a three-year run.

Best Paying Slots - Palms - Catering to the slot machine crowd, there’s no better place to blow your kid’s college fund.

Best Poker Room - Bellagio - Its fourth consecutive year to win this award, the Bellagio is the Vegas destination for big-money poker players.

Best Sports Book - Red Rock Resort - Red Rock does it again. They have three walls filled with giant televisions broadcasting every sport known to man.

Best Video Poker - Palms - With progressive meters and a half-dozen different full-pay schedules, it’s hard to beat the Palms for your video poker needs.

Best Breakfast Special - Station Casinos - From 11pm until 6am, you can get a Denver omelet for $3 or a bacon and eggs skillet for $4.

Most Colorful Character - Oscar Goodman - The mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman has won this award for eight straight years. Showgirls accompany him on public appearances, and he’s fond of drinking Bombay Sapphire gin. Need I say more?

Entertainer Who Needs a New Act - Wayne Newton - A Vegas icon, Newton has been doing essentially the same act for decades. Some people love that, while others are growing a bit bored. Maybe it’s time to move to Branson for good.

Most Overrated Restaurant - Ruth’s Chris Steak House - High prices and an air of snobbery allow this restaurant to once again dominate the category. Note: just because a place is expensive doesn‘t mean it‘s good.

Most Embarrassing Thing About Las Vegas - Sex Pamphlets on the Strip - This would actually near the top of my “Favorite Things” list. Where else can you go and have people thrust pornography into your hand…for free?! God bless you, Las Vegas.

NFL Week Two - Betting Odds from Bodog

It was a brutal Week One in the National Football League. Players were dropping like flies, and a number of wagers were won or lost due to these unpredictable injuries. To begin with, let’s take a look at some of the injuries you need to be aware of before making your wagers with Bodog this week.

NFL INJURIES FOR WEEK ONE

- Tom Brady (QB, Patriots) - Brady tore up his knee and will miss the rest of the season.

- Vince Young (QB, Titans) - Young will miss 2 to 4 weeks with a torn MCL.

- Brodie Croyle (QB, Chiefs) - He’ll miss up to three weeks with a separated shoulder.

- Marques Colston (WR, Saints) - After tearing a ligament in his thumb, Colston will miss anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks.

- Maurice Morris (RB, Seahawks) - Morris hurt his knee and will miss a few weeks. Julius Jones will have the starting job all to himself.

- Nate Burleson (WR, Seahawks) - Burleson blew out his knee and will miss the rest of the season.

- Drew Bennett (WR, Rams) - After sustaining a knee injury, Bennett will miss at least a month and maybe more.

- Shawne Merriman (LB, Chargers) - After trying to make it through the season on a bad leg, Merriman elected to have season-ending surgery.

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS

My final record for last week was 7 wins and 8 losses. Brady’s injury for the Patriots really got me (along with everyone else), and I certainly wasn’t expecting the hapless Lions to get smoked by the rebuilding Falcons and the emerging Michael Turner (pictured).

The Bengals and the Redskins looked horrible, and the Chargers showed that they were overrated by many coming into the season. It looks like the same old story for the Raiders, and the Bears stunned the Colts with a solid defensive effort and the emergence of rookie running back Matt Forte.

NFL WEEK TWO - BODOG ODDS

As always, my picks are in bold. Betting lines are courtesy of Bodog.

Sunday

Raiders +3 ½ @ Chiefs -3 ½

Titans +1 @ Bengals -1

Colts -2 @ Vikings +2

Saints -1 @ Redskins +1

Online Gambling Crackdown in Turkey

If you’re looking to do some online gambling in Turkey, then you may be out of luck. The government has recently begun a crackdown, and the online gambling industry appears to be D.O.A.

In fact, the censorship by the government has become so bad that 500 major Turkish websites recently shut down as a form of protest. Turkey is trying to get into the European Union, but behavior such as this isn’t going to win them any points (although the Bush administration is probably pulling for them).

Reports indicate that the Turks have blocked access to 853 international websites. One of these is YouTube, after President Mustafa Kemal Ataturk saw something he didn’t like. Perhaps he was pissed to learn that lonelygirl15 was just an actress.

TURKEY VS. ONLINE GAMBLING

The Turks seem to really dislike online gambling, as they arrested two Sportingbet employees earlier this year while the duo were on vacation (note: don’t go to Turkey on vacation). It’s also been reported that 37 employees for Superbahis, Sportingbet’s Turkish branch, have also been detained.

This followed passage of a law in February which banned unauthorized companies from offering gambling services to Turkish citizens. There are a few online casinos still available in the county, but their employees are staying far away from Turkey.

If you want to do some gambling without having angry Turks kicking in your door, why not head on over to Bodog? They have reliable service, fast payouts and lots of great casino and sports betting options.

Jury Selection for O.J. Simpson Trial - Bodog Odds

The most recent O.J. Simpson trial is about to get underway . But first, a 12-member jury and six alternates have to be selected. Normally, it wouldn’t be that difficult, but half the country already believes The Juice is a murderer.

While he beat the 1994 murder rap involving his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her “friend,” Robert Goldman, he later lost a civil suit which cost him $33.5 million in damages. Since then, O.J. has spent a lot of time on the golf course, a known hangout of “the real killers.”

O.J. IS AT IT AGAIN

In September of 2007, O.J. and a group of henchmen “allegedly” entered a room at the Palace Station hotel-casino and took a large amount of sports memorabilia at gunpoint. O.J. admitted to taking the items, but he denied wielding a gun or breaking into the room. When his cronies started confessing, O.J. was left in a bit of a pickle.

He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a firearm, first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, coercion with the use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit a crime and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

If convicted, O.J. faces life in prison. And given the amount of evidence against him, things aren’t looking very good for the former Bills running back.

O.J. SIMPSON JURY SELECTION

Meanwhile, the jury selection drags on. Simpson’s lawyers have asked potential jurors if they have any opinion of Simpson which might interfere with their ability to render a fair decision. In fact, they wanted to ask every potential member of the jury if they thought Simpson was a murderer, but the judge wouldn’t allow that to happen.

Jury selection is expected to run through the rest of the week.

O.J. TRIAL - BODOG ODDS

Way back in September of 2007, Bodog offered a couple of prop bets concerning the upcoming O.J. trial. While those wagers are no longer available, be sure to keep an eye on Bodog’s sportsbooks for more possible O.J. Simpson betting options. Plus, it will afford you the rare opportunity to utter the line, “What’s the juice on The Juice?”.

Results for UFC 88: Breakthrough

On Saturday night, UFC 88: Breakthrough took place at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Bodog had some tempting lines for all you gamblers out there, and now it’s time to see how everything shook out.

By the way, the match between Karo Parisyan and Yoshiyuki Yoshida was called off when Parisyan pulled out two hours before the weigh-in. He cited a “last minute back injury“ as his reason for doing so.

RESULTS FOR UFC 88

Preliminary card

(Middleweight) Jason MacDonald vs. Jason Lambert - MacDonald defeats Lambert by submission due to a rear naked choke at 1:20 of round 2.

(Light heavyweight) Tim Boetsch vs. Mike Patt - Boetsch defeats Patt via TKO at 2:03 of round 1.

(Welterweight) Roan Carneiro vs. Ryo Chonan - Chonan defeats Carneiro via split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29). This bout was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 85 in London.

(Lightweight) Thiago Tavares vs. Kurt Pellegrino - Pellegrino defeats Tavares via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-27, 29-27).

Main card

(Welterweight) Matt Brown vs. Dong Hyun Kim - Kim defeats Brown by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

(Middleweight) Nate Marquardt vs. Martin Kampmann - Marquardt defeats Kampmann by TKO at 1:22 of round 1.

(Middleweight) Dan Henderson vs. Rousimar Palhares - Henderson defeats Palhares by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

(Light heavyweight) Rich Franklin vs. Matt Hamill - Franklin defeats Hamill by TKO at 0:39 of round 3.

(Light heavyweight) Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans - Evans defeats Liddell by KO at 1:51 of round 2.

UFC POST-FIGHT AWARDS

The following awards were given out following UFC 88. Keep in mind that each of these carries a substantial bonus to the fighter’s purse.

Fight of the Night: Kurt Pellegrino vs. Thiago Tavares

Submission of the Night: Jason MacDonald

Knockout of the Night: Rashad Evans

UFC 88 FALLOUT

The biggest news of the night was certainly Evans’ brutal knockout of Liddell. While there were plenty of other notable events on the card, nothing else even comes close. If you didn’t see it, do a search on the Internet and take a look.

Liddell was in the middle of throwing an uppercut, and Evans was also in the process in throwing a big right hand. Evans’ punch got there a little sooner, exploding into Liddell’s jaw with enough force to immediately turn out his lights. Liddell crumpled to the mat, and it was obvious to everyone that he was completely out.

While Liddell will no doubt ponder retirement after losing three of his last four, Rashad Evans is headed in the opposite direction. He’s still undefeated in the UFC, and he’ll next face the light heavyweight champ, and fellow Ultimate Fighter winner, Forrest Griffin.

It will, however, cost the UFC some money, as the Griffin/Liddell fight would have been a bigger pay-per-view draw. But, as always, the UFC will have be able to build new stars, and things don’t look nearly as bleak with the return of Randy Couture and the continued dominance of Anderson Silva.

Couture Returns to UFC - Will Face Lesnar!

The legal battle between UFC heavyweight champ Randy Couture and the UFC is finally over. On Tuesday, the 45-year-old champ agreed to return to the world’s leading MMA organization. His first fight back will be against the phenomenon known as Brock Lesnar. This ends 11 months of legal wrangling between Couture and the UFC.

REACHING A RESOLUTION

“I said all along, ‘Never say never,” stated Couture. “When I sat down, looked at the legal situation and how long it was going to take for me to fight this battle and to be in a position to fight Fedor, that was kind of a turning point.

SEARCHNG FOR FEDOR EMELIANENKO

The Fedor in question is Fedor Emelianenko, the Russian fighter who most consider the best heavyweight in the world. Couture really wants to meet him in the ring, but the UFC has so far been unsuccessful in signing him. Most recently, Fedor signed an exclusive U.S. contract with the Affliction brand.

UFC President Dana White, always one with an opinion, believes it’s only a matter of time before Fedor will be available.

“I would be fuc*ing horrified if Affliction is still in business by January. They’re going to burn a lot of cash in the next couple of months, believe me.”

White went on to say, “They’ll be gone in a couple of months, and then Fedor will have to come here. Listen, you’re not under contract if the company isn’t in business anymore.”

ENTER BROCK LESNAR

But before he takes on Fedor, Couture will have to defend his title on November 15th against Brock Lesnar at UFC 91. This promises to be the biggest fight in UFC history, as Lesnar looked like a monster against Heath Herring last month and has quickly built up a legion of fans. Couture, by the way, remains the most popular fighter the UFC has ever seen.

Couture has not competed since destroying Gabriel Gonzaga in August of 2007. Prior to that, he captured the title by defeating Tim Sylvia in March of 2007. A perpetual underdog, many wonder how he will deal with Lesnar’s freakish combination of size, strength and speed.

“Obviously, the only fight I’ve been pining for is the Fedor fight, but that’s not going to happen right away,” said Couture. “In the interest of resolving our differences, I agreed to fight Brock. He’s a huge man and a formidable opponent. I’m not overlooking him by any means.”

The winner of this fight will then take on the winner of the Frank Mir/Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fight. Noguiera, by the way, defeated Tim Sylvia to capture the interim heavyweight title in Couture’s absence.

Showboat Chip Sells for $29,988.88 on eBay!

Sandy Marbs of Florisant, Missouri recently picked up $29,988.88 by selling a $1 poker chip on eBay! The chip was from the now defunct Showboat Casino in Las Vegas (in operation from 1954 until 2001), and it’s believed to be one of only two such chips in the world.

BURIED TREASURE

Sandy, who is recently retired and living on social security, stared selling items on eBay this year in the $5 to $30 range. She hadn’t made a trip to Las Vegas in eight years, so she decided to sell some chips she had left over from that trip. She had a few other chips sitting around, and the Showboat chip had been tucked away inside a jewelry box for the past 47 years.

She said, “Why not,” and posted the auction with a starting price of $2.25. The chip was valued at $15,000, and the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club stepped in to help her get the appropriate value. She was offered anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000 to end the auction early, but Sandy politely declined and hoped for the best. When the dust had settled, the winning bid was $28,988.88!

THE LUCKY WINNER

The winner of the auction was Glenn Grush. According to Glenn, “I will only say it will be a great addition to my collection.” Glenn’s obviously a man of few words.

Wayne Thompson, President of the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club also chimed in. “It’s always exciting to see a record broken on rare chips. While this is the highest price paid for a $1 chip, we have seen at least one Sahara $100 chip bring $100,000 cash.”

Prior to Sandy’s record -breaking sale, the highest a $1 chip went for on eBay was $7,212 in 2005. That was for an El Cortez poker chip.

If you happen to come across some old chips in your attic; remember this story. You could be throwing away a small fortune and not even know it.

NFL Week One Football Odds from Bodog

The 2008 season of the National Football League officially starts tomorrow, and we here at Dare to Gamble couldn’t be more excited. Coming into this season, there are literally more plotlines than you can shake a stick at. These include:

- Brett Favre debuts as a New York Jet.

- Can Chad Johnson and Shawn Merriman both make it through the season without further aggravating their injuries?

- Can the New England Patriots continue their momentum from last season (when they went undefeated in the regular season)?

- Will Darren McFadden light up the league from Week One?

There are plenty of other interesting stories to talk about, but most of you are probably more concerned about the betting aspect of Week One. Just like last year, I’ll be making my predictions each week and then keeping track of them throughout the season.

Last year, my regular season record was 110-98-12. Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped for. This season, I’m looking to do even better. As always, I place my bets through Bodog’s sportsbook, and I highly recommend that you do the same. When it comes to quick payouts and friendly customer service, they simply cannot be beat. And did I mention that they still accept U.S. customers?

Sarah Palin - VP Hottie from Alaska

Republican codger John McCain recently announced his vice-presidential running-mate, and the nation was shocked to learn that it was a 44-year-old hottie from Alaska. Her name? Sarah Palin. While we don’t touch on politics much at DaretoGamble, we do believe in promoting good-looking women. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at the candidate.

Oh, and keep in mind that Bodog can meet all your sports betting needs, including political prop bets with Obama, McCain and Mrs. Palin. If it can be bet on, you can count on Bodog having it.

SARAH PALIN - HER LIFE

Born to a school secretary and science teacher, Palin’s family moved to Alaska when she was only an infant. During high school, she played on the basketball team and earned the nickname “Sarah Barracuda” for her intense play.

In 1984, she won the Miss Wasilla beauty pageant and then finished second in the Miss Alaska pageant. This earned her a college scholarship, and she attended both Hawaii Pacific College and North Idaho College before earning her degree in communications-journalism (minoring in political science).

In 1988, Palin eloped with her high-school boyfriend. They have since had five children. Her eldest son, Track, recently enlisted in the U.S. Army. Her youngest son, Trig, has Down Syndrome. The revelation that her teenage daughter is pregnant also made headlines just yesterday.

After graduation, she worked as a sports reporter in Anchorage, Alaska and helped out with her husband’s fishing business.

Her political career began in 1992 when she ran for a seat on the Wasilla city council. She won and served from 1992 until 1996.

In 1996, she registered as a Republican and ran for mayor. She served two four-year terms as mayor and ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor in 2002. She was appointed by the governor to the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and she acted as chairman from 2003 to 2004. In 2004, she resigned in protest over a lack of ethics by fellow Republicans.

In 2006, Palin ran for governor, running on a platform of clean government, education and public safety. At the age of 42, she became Alaska’s youngest governor and the first woman to ever hold the position.

On August 29th, 2008, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain announced Palin as his running mate. This makes her the second woman to run for vice-president on a major-party ticket.

Palin describes herself as a “hockey mom” who enjoys hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles, eating moose burgers and running marathons. She also owns and pilots a floatplane.

SARAH PALIN - THE ISSUES

Abortion - Pro-life. She only supports abortion in cases where the mother’s life is in danger.

Capital Punishment - She supports the death penalty for some crimes.

Global Warming - Palin does not believe that global warming is caused by mankind.

Guns - A member of the NRA, Palin supports the right to own and bear arms.

Same-Sex Marriage - Palin is opposed to same-sex marriages.

Michelle Rodriguez - Babe of the Week

This week's Babe is Michelle Rodriguez. Known for her sexy scowl, this Latina hottie can be seen in films such as S.W.A.T., Resident Evil and Girl Fight. She also marches to the beat of a different drummer, once choosing to serve jail time instead of community service. Her reason? She didn't want to have to fool with community service.
